Trucking Trade Shows in 2027: Which Ones Are Worth It for Recruiting and Safety Teams

5 min

Trucking trade shows are industry conferences and expos where carriers meet suppliers, peers and drivers in person. For a recruiting or safety leader, a show pays back when it is chosen for its recruiting or compliance agenda and when every contact made there gets worked the same day, the way an online lead would.

The biggest trucking conferences draw executives and equipment buyers. The events that move hiring numbers have a recruiting track on the agenda or a crowd of working drivers on the floor.

Upcoming trucking trade shows for the rest of 2026

Two events left on the 2026 calendar are worth a recruiting leader's time.

ATA Management Conference & Exhibition, October 17–20, Charlotte, NC. MCE is the American Trucking Associations' annual gathering for owners and senior executives. It is a policy and strategy event more than a recruiting one. If your recruiting budget, your technology stack or your hiring targets get decided at the executive level, this is where those conversations happen.

Women In Trucking Accelerate! Conference & Expo, October 25–28, Dallas, TX. Accelerate! is the closest thing on the fall calendar to a recruiting conference. The 2026 program lists more than 50 educational sessions and 125-plus speakers, with recruitment and retention on the agenda, and organizers expect over 2,000 attendees.

The 2027 season opens in late winter, with the recruiting conference in February and MATS in March.

Trucking conferences built for recruiting and retention

Four events put driver recruiting, retention or safety at the center of the program. For a recruiting or safety leader, these are the first ones to budget for.

Annual Recruitment & Retention Conference

This is the one conference in trucking built entirely around recruiting and keeping drivers. The 2026 edition, the 23rd, ran February 25–27 in Nashville with a program on how data, strategy and AI are reshaping recruiting and retention. It is organized with the American Trucking Associations and recruiting agencies including Conversion Interactive Agency. The 2027 edition will be the 24th; the organizers have published a save-the-date but not the dates yet.

ATA Safety, Security & Human Resources Conference (SSHR)

SSHR runs three educational tracks focused on safety, security and human resources, plus an exhibit hall. The 2026 edition took place April 1–3 in Oklahoma City, with sessions on camera technology, driver coaching, AI, and recruitment and retention. It is the right room for a safety director and a recruiting director to attend together, since compliance and hiring meet in the DQ file.

TCA Safety & Security Meeting

The Truckload Carriers Association's Safety & Security Meeting brings truckload safety professionals together each June. The 2026 meeting ran June 7–9 in Oklahoma City. Its "Safety in the Round" sessions let attendees work through common safety management and human resources problems as a group, with topics that typically include driver training procedures and insurance and litigation practices.

Women In Trucking Accelerate!

Accelerate! belongs on this list as well as on the fall calendar. Its workforce development focus makes it useful for fleets trying to widen the candidate pool, and its retention sessions apply to the whole driver workforce.

Trucking trade shows where you meet drivers

Driver-facing shows are where a booth can produce applications. That only happens when the booth is set up to take them.

Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS)

MATS is the largest annual heavy-duty trucking show in the country. The 2026 show drew 53,507 attendees from all 50 states and 55 countries. The 2027 show runs March 18–20 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville; attendee registration opens December 1, 2026, and free attendee registration closes February 18, 2027. The crowd includes owner-operators and company drivers alongside fleet buyers, which makes MATS the highest-volume recruiting floor of the year.

Texas Trucking Show

The Texas Trucking Show is one of the largest regional trucking events in the South, and it is free to attend. The 2026 show expected around 8,500 attendees and 250 exhibitors at NRG Center in Houston. The 2027 show is set for June 5–6. For fleets hiring in Texas and the surrounding states, it concentrates regional drivers in one building for two days.

Walcott Truckers Jamboree

The Jamboree is held each July at the Iowa 80 Truckstop, the largest truck stop in the United States, and it has celebrated truckers since 1979. It is primarily an event for drivers, and it is open to exhibitors; the 2026 edition hosted over 175 of them. Carriers that exhibit there go to recruit.

Industry-wide and executive trucking conferences

Executive and industry-wide shows matter to a recruiting leader when budget or technology decisions get made there. They rarely produce applications.

Truckload, the TCA Annual Convention. The 2026 convention ran February 28 to March 3 in Orlando and brings truckload executives and suppliers together, including the Truckload Carrier of the Year awards.

NPTC Education Management Conference. The National Private Truck Council's annual event is the main gathering for private fleets. The 2026 conference in Orlando, May 9–11, expected more than 1,200 attendees and over 170 exhibitors. Private fleets recruit under different constraints than for-hire carriers, and this is where their leaders compare notes.

Work Truck Week and TMC Annual Meeting. Work Truck Week in Indianapolis (March 10–13 in 2026) covers vocational and work truck fleets. TMC's Annual Meeting in Nashville (March 16–19 in 2026) is the ATA's technology and maintenance event. Both are useful for fleet operations teams and less so for recruiting.

How to recruit drivers at a trucking trade show

A booth recruits when a driver can apply on the spot and hears from a recruiter the same day. The work that decides the result happens in the 24 hours after a driver stops by.

  1. Put the application on the driver's phone. A QR code at the booth should open a mobile DOT application the driver can finish standing in the aisle. Double Nickel's driver application is built for this: drivers sign in with an SMS code instead of a password and complete a full application in under five minutes.

  2. Tag every booth contact with the event as its source. If a driver applies from the show floor, the record should say so from the first touch. Without that tag, the hire shows up later as a direct applicant and the show gets no credit.

  3. Contact every lead the same day. Drivers who stop at your booth stop at a dozen others. Many will fill out applications that night from the hotel, outside your recruiters' hours. Double Nickel's AI Virtual Recruiter calls new applicants within seconds at any hour, screens for experience and endorsements, and books time with a recruiter for the next morning.

  4. Staff the booth with the recruiters who will own the follow-up. A driver who talks to the same person at the booth and on the phone the next day has a reason to pick up.

How to measure the ROI of a trucking trade show

Measure a show by hires and cost per hire, then compare it against what the same budget buys on job boards. Attendance and badge scans say little about whether the trip was worth it.

The cost side is straightforward to add up. Registration for major trucking conferences has run roughly $499 to $899 early bird and $699 to $1,099 standard, according to one 2025 roundup, with association discounts and free entry for drivers at some shows. Booth fees, travel, lodging and staff time usually dwarf the registration.

The results side depends on attribution. Every lead from the show needs to carry the event as its source from application to hire, so you can see how many booth contacts became drivers in seats and what each one cost. Double Nickel's pipeline analytics tie each lead to its source and follow it through to hire, which lets you put MATS next to your paid job ads on the same report. Check the same group of hires again a few months later to see who is still driving.

How much does it cost to attend a trucking conference?

Registration for major trucking conferences has ranged from about $499 to $1,099 per person, depending on timing and membership. Regional shows like the Texas Trucking Show are free for attendees, and MATS offers free attendee registration until February 18, 2027. Exhibiting adds booth fees, travel and staff time.

Make every trade show lead count

A trucking trade show is one more source of driver leads, and it deserves the same speed and the same measurement as the rest. If your team comes home from a show with a stack of contacts and no way to tell which ones became hires, book a call with Double Nickel to see how same-day follow-up and source attribution work across every channel you recruit from.
